EBOLA NOT OVER UNTIL WE WIN

What should have been poured into this writing is a congratulatory note, to us. Yes, it is true that the human race (and affected countries) is gaining triumph in the fight against the epidemic, Ebola, that suddenly struck our space. Yet, more is still to be done.

With the help of world's giant health bodies like the WHO, CDC, International Red Cross Society, UNMEER, Medecins Sans Frontieres, and so on, we have been able to attain substantial level of success. Yet, this is not the time to relax and fold our arms people.

Something surprising (at the same time, baffling) should strike our minds. Despite this disease already being kicked out of major affected countries (DR Congo, Senegal, and Nigeria), the death toll and reported cases are still on the rise. This is a real need for us to be more careful. It's a cause for cautious alarm.

Sometimes in November 2014, the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon points out that despite the progresses been made, the outbreak remains active with people dying every day and new infections continuing and no one can say with certainty what the coming weeks might bring.

More than 26,000 people have been infected in the epidemic, over 11,000 people have died, and the number of infections is still doubling every month, the WHO has
reported.

The WHO admits the figures are underestimates, given the difficulty collecting the data. WHO officials in December discovered scores of bodies in a remote diamond-mining area of Sierra Leone, raising fears that the scale of the Ebola outbreak may have been underreported.

The WHO even suspects and warns against possible spread of this disease to other various regions if proper measures and care isn't taken.

Though the epidemic has been tackled from the source and DR Congo has been declared free, the epidemic is still a very serious threat in other affected parts of West Africa. Even, in Mali, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone the numbers are still steadily going up. There's an average, 40-50 new cases reported every day according to official figures, and there are lots of not-yet declared cases as well.

Until these bases are fully dealt with, we still need to watch our backs, and be on guard.

IT TAKES YOU, ME, ALL OF US. . .

For us to win, completely, in this fight, it requires me, it requires you. Don't let us leave it to the health bodies alone, it's our world, and not just theirs.

What are you doing about it? Don't just say it's none of your business because your country is not affected or has been declared free. As long as we still have nations battling this, it remains a potential threat to yours too, even your family, loved ones, and you.

The U.N. Under-Secretary-General Kandeh Yumkella told
CNN that the future rests in part on what and how much the 'international community' does to help corral the virus. By this, he's referring to all of us.

You can help support in the Ebola response, in your own best capacity, even if the little you can do is sourcing for information on Ebola, and educating your immediate family members, friends, relatives. Or be it donating money to health bodies to help fight against it. Those little things really count.

IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL WE WIN.

Home Practice Pick Yourself Up Dust Yourself Off and Start All Over Again

by Nina

People who know me are often impressed by my dedication to my home yoga practice. Although I take class once a week, most of my yoga practice consists of what I do on my own, in my own house. And in general I'm very steady and consistent about practicing. But, of course, I'm only human, and sometimes I fall off the wagon.

The two main times I fall off the wagon is when I have house guests (I just cannot bring myself to sneak off and practice while friends or relatives are in my house) and when I'm traveling. Yes, I know, we're posting all kinds of information about yoga you can do anywhere and everywhere, at the airport, in your hotel room, blah, blah, blah, but here I am in Austin, Texas, at a bed and breakfast, helping a family member who is going through some hard times, and, you know what? I'm not practicing. My days are long, with a lot of walking, unpacking of boxes, shopping for necessities, etc., and practicing just doesn't feel possible.

But years of experience with similar situations have taught me that when I return home and things get back to normal, I'll simply resume my practice, with no harm done. It's like that song from the Fred Astair and Ginger Roger movie "Swing Time," where Ginger teaches Fred to dance: "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again." Years of experience with this have also taught me that it's easier dust yourself off and start all over again if you don't judge yourself and just accept it as a normal part of yoga for real life. If you're too hard on yourself, your more likely to think of yourself as a failure and give up entirely. And the more often you do pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again, the easier becomes. Maybe even as easy as it is for Ginger to teach Fred to dance!

Ginger tells Fred not to be discouraged. And, of course, Fred learns to dance really quickly:

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Over The Counter Orthotics

By Brenda Warner

If someone has a foot problem, there are a number of ways to bring relief. However, not all over the counter orthotics are created equal. There is always the chance that anyone of these products can help but there are also certain things that on has to consider before spending money on cheaper products. This article will look at these considerations.

Not everyone can afford to purchase the higher price custom-made products that one will find at the doctor's office. There are many products sold at specific sections of a drugstore or pharmacy which costs much less. It is a cheaper way to get the help one needs as oppose to spending over one hundred dollars for a custom design product.

There is also the fact that these items are easy to access. A person can go to the drugstore and get the product they believe they need to help with their situation. They do have to set an appointment with a foot doctor or wait for a custom-made foot care product. This is one of the reasons why they are so popular with an entire section in the store dedicated these items.

There are many different products available. Most people can find many different products for needs that vary from problems with arches to calluses. There are also inserts for different types of shoes that a person might wear. This makes it very convenient for the public to get the help they need. However one should also be aware of the disadvantages of these types of ready-made products.

One of the drawbacks to ready-made foot care items is that they may not be very effective in taking care of the problem. This is due to the fact that many of these products are not designed for the individual and the specific problems that they might have. So the product might not do the job that it is expected to do except a person gets the right one by chance.

They do not last as long as the custom-made foot care products. Due to the quality of the materials that are used, certain items do not last as long as those that are custom-made. This is not to say that one cannot find well made products at a drugstore, but it is something to consider when making a decision to get foot care products that are worth the money.

Ready-made products might not be suitable for unique foot problems. This could also be true for custom-made products due to a problem being misdiagnose because it has never been seen before. On the other hand, a person has a better chance of finding a solution than going to a store to get a product that was designed for many different people.

One has to do research to find the best products for their needs. Whether they decide to get something that is custom-made or ready-made, it is important to use products that one can afford but are yet effective. Even if a person visits a specialist in this field, knowing what is available will help in making the right decision.
